This service is recommended for all new clients of Smith's Piano Craft.  As part of this service, we'll go above and beyond a standard tuning appointment.  Prior to tuning your piano, I will visually inspect the structural integrity of the piano, as well as inspect all mechanical aspects of the action and pedals. 

Once it is determined that the piano is in good condition and able to be tuned, I will thoroughly clean the interior of the piano and complete any minor repairs.  You would be surprised at the amount of dust and dirt which accumulate over the years inside a piano. 

In most cases, if its been more than a couple years since its last tuning, I will perform a pitch raise on the piano.  A "pitch raise" involves two or more tuning passes.  The first tuning pass will be a rough tuning in which the string tension is pulled up and over the desired end result.  By the time the first pass is completed, the pitch of the piano will once again be flat.  Then I will finely tune your piano to concert pitch, A440Hz. 

In some cases, your piano may not be able to be tuned to standard pitch.   I will inform you if this is the case and discuss any options if available.
